*Pioneer-Woman's-Apple-Dumpling*

This recipe for apple pies uses Granny Smith apples, Pillsbury crescent rolls, and a can of Mountain Dew. Oh, and more butter than I've ever seen.

* Ingredients
° 1 large apple {I used Fuji- any apple would do, better tart}
° 1 box of Crescent Pillsbury Pastry
° 1/2 cup butter
° 2/3 cup sugar
° 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
° 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
° 3/4 cup or 6 ounces 7up or equivalent {half can}

* How to make it :

Heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease an 8 x 8 baking tray.
Cut each apple into 8-10 wedges.
Cut the apple peel into slices as well and set it aside.
Separate crescent dough to triangles.
Roll each apple slice into the crescent roll dough starting at the wide end.
Pinch to seal the apples, cover, and place in a baking dish. {This is easiest if you dry the apple first and then wrap the dough around it.}
Melt the butter in a small saucepan and add the sugar and cinnamon. Heat and whisk to blend.
The mixture will slowly combine and thicken. When it becomes thick, remove from heat and add vanilla.
Pour the cinnamon mixture over the apple pies. Pour soda over the dumplings. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown!!!

Enjoy !
